Child Rights

Children are the real sufferers in matrimonial disputes, exposing children to conflicts of their parents that sows seeds of anxiousness, distraught, hopelessness, trust issues, dejection and worthlessness and children develop habitual depressive symptoms. The grief and adverse psychology of the children whose parents are going through disputes is like an internal bleeding which is not visible from outside. They are either forced alienation from one of the parents or the ongoing custody/divorce battle between their parents. Often, this impacts their studies as an immediate effect and overall cognitive development is hampered having long-term repercussions on their future and present ability to perform cognitive tasks and inability to form healthy relations with others and probably leading to a state of fixation.

According to United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (commonly abbreviated as the UNCRC), the essentials are basic fundamental rights of children, which include children’s right to life, survival and development, protection from violence, abuse or neglect, education, be raised by, or have a relationship with, their parents and the ability to express their opinion.

Across India, where KAYAKALP Foundation has the right to operate, we aim to play a significant role in overseeing child rights implementation as per Article 45a of UNCRC by advocacy and lobbying to promote access to justice, equality before the law, and the protection of the human rights of children. Protection of children from harm, child labor, child trafficking etc. are also important to us and we help children live and grow to be the best they can be supporting Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) which recognizes the right of every child to rest, leisure, play, recreational activities, and free and full participation in cultural and artistic life.
